Today, Don Sutherland, Mike Golden and I did a full day tour of Wasco
County looking for birds. We found 50 species including Snow Goose,
Cackling Goose, Rough-legged Hawk, Lewis's Woodpecker, Prairie Falcon,
Say's Phoebe, Northern Shrike, Bushtit, Canyon Wren, American Dipper and
Golden-crowned Sparrow. Most impressive was the almost complete lack of
gulls on the Columbia. We found only one (Glaucous-winged).
