I have been curious about Birder's Diary. I have been using iGoTerra for a
couple of years but am unhappy with how long it takes for a sighting to be
uploaded to the cloud (I have years of lists from the U.S. and many foreign
countries to enter). Is data entry swift? Or is there a wait period for the
entry to finalize? Also, is it cloud based?
Thanks, Gerard

Subject: [obol] Birders Diary is
I don’t know how many of you use the listing program Birder’s Diary, but Marti
and I have been using it for almost 15 years, and we find it indispensable. I
particularly want to give a public shout-out to their technical support.
During a recent computer system upgrade, our bird database was damaged. When I
contacted Birders Diary support, the developer/programmer was willing and able
to access my computer and troubleshoot the issue. Using related files in the BD
directory, he was able to resurrect and reconstruct the database. As a result,
we’ve not lost one bird sighting from our 30 years of records. He also set up a
better backup routine and linked our program version to the latest Clements
list. What a relief.
I’d be happy to give more information to anyone interested.
