No curlew for us either. We actually arrived at the ponds about 9am, it was Kim Nelson and Will Wright that Lars saw arriving as he left, but they didn't see it either, neither did Hendrik Herlyn, who arrived shortly after us. Several people also looked in nearby fields with no luck. Multiple pairs of moffitti Canada Geese scattered evenly over the annual grass seed field to the north give the place an Eastern Oregon feel without the curlew. A serious departure from the avifauna on this field 40 years ago. The Fairchilds arrived as I was giving up. Perhaps they will confirm my diligence or lack thereof.
