I birded Baskett and Ankeny with Matthew Schneider today. Highlights were a
Prairie Falcon flying west from Firesteed Winery into Baskett, Green Heron at
Ankeny in the little sump by the Eagle Marsh parking area, quite a number of
sunning Lincoln's Sparrows at Baskett (and several Savannahs) and a Red-tail at
Ankeny that looked like a Harlan's from the front but had a strange dark
red-brown upper tail surface.
Loads of kestrels out.
We finished the day meeting Tristen Hynes at Grand Prairie Park in Albany,
where you can almost catch Eurasian Wigeon by hand.
