Today near or at the North Jetty of the Columbia:
3 Bank Swallows
4 juv. Ruddy Turnstones
10 Black Turnstones
2 Surfbirds
Yesterday on the beach north of Surfside Estates:
4 Ruddy turnstones (1 an adult)
10 Marbled Godwits
Large number of Sanderlings, Western and Least Sandpipers.
20 Black-bellied Plovers
Dozens of Semipalmated Plovers
1 Red-necked Phalarope
On the bay about two or three miles south of Nachotta:
Up to 11 Greater Yellowlegs
8 Short-billed Dowitchers
Fly-by Western and Least Sandpipers
Nearer the south end of Willapa Bay:
1 Lesser Yellowlegs
A Barred Owl is in the yard rather frequently, sometimes hunting during day
light hours.
This afternoon north of the Oysterville Approach on the ocean beach:
Nick had:
Perhaps as many as 200 Black-bellied Plovers
About 15 Semi-palmated Plovers
Western Sandpipers and Sanderlings
1 Spotted Sandpiper on the open sandy beach
