My son and I found nesting BANK SWALLOWS at the end of Reeder Beach Road last night (6/23). There's a pasture enclosed north of the parking lot, the colony is immediately east of the gate in the ne corner. You can walk up the beach (north, downstream) and the place is opposite an elaborate navagational installation(ladders, solar panels). It's possible to stand right next to the colony. There may be a dozen holes, I don't know if they're all occupied. In the ponds along a trail system to the north we saw three Great Egrets, which I've never seen on the westside in June before. I recall reports from Ridgefield and/or Scapoose about possible nesting egrets.
