Yesterday morning I spent some time looking for shorebirds around Bandon
finding the best variety just east of the south jetty including Surfbird,
Black Turnstone, Western & Least Sandpiper, Sanderling and Wandering
Tattler. A Red-necked Phalarope was a bit further east in the bay. Bandon
Marsh had hundreds of Western Sandpipers along with a few Semipalmated
Plover and a Greater Yellowlegs. Shorebirds were scarce at the North Spit
at Coos Bay with only a Western Sandpiper and Greater Yellowlegs. Good
numbers of American Pipits were feeding in the shorebird habitat north of
the dike.
