Because most slugs are poisoned near yards or gardens, I'm not sure how serious
the problem would be away from those locations, but I do know that ducks really
go after slugs, big-time.

Subject: [ADV] [obol] Sluggo and the food web
I can only echo Wayne's concerns. Slugs are eagerly pursued by a host of
vertebrates. Pacific salamander, California red-sided garter snake and American
Kestrel have all consumed them in my presence. I can't recall where l read the
details before, but Wayne's reference to Australian consumer protection laws
reminds me that l had previously been confronted with Sluggo's devious
presentation in North America.
Putting slug bait under boards and flagstones has always been my solution to
keeping it away from birds and bunnies. But l can't help think a significant
number of poisoned slugs might get eaten.
