Birders - I recently received a nice photo of a GRAY-CROWNED ROSY-FINCH (Leucosticte tephrocotis wallowa) from Mark Penninger, of La Grande, OR., via Mariah Blackhorse from Joseph, OR. She was hiking up the Matterhorn when she photographed this beauty. According to Birds of Oregon, "This is one of two avian taxa endemic to Oregon (a Wrentit ssp. is the other). This subspecies is typically darker, less tawny and reddish-brown overall, than L.t. littoralis, which apparently breeds in the Blues and Cascade Mountains." http://i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m527/avitours/GCRFwallowa_zps222f2fbb.jp g Good birding, - Trent The Bobolink - Linking Birders & Birds 1707 5th Street La Grande, OR 97850 (541) 963 - 2888 avitours@xxxxxxx
