There were about 10 Bufflehead on the nw lagoon of Philomath sewage facility
last night (10/17). Also about two dozen Eared Grebes spread between the two
northern lagoons. They were still there this morning. Two adult Peregrines were
perched along the entrance road from 8 to 9 am. They left in tandem, headed sw,
just skimming the ash trees sw of the complex.
At the pasture west of Corvallis Airport on Airport Rd there were at least
7 Rough-legged Hawks. Light birds, dark birds, males females. Also plenty of
other raptors, but ROHA a clear majority. The prairie overlook at Finley had
only a lone Northern Hariier. I"m guessing the kites came later. I was there
from 10-11 if not longer. The poorest count for raptors I've made at that spot
in a long time. Lars
