5:20 AM, Rummel Street, McMinnville
I finish a chapter about Magaret Murie's adventure on the Sheenjek River in
NE Alaska in 1956, put down my book [Two in the Far North], and go to the
kitchen. I take the checklist on the table - the one Carol designed - and
on the blank line at the bottom left, below House Sparrow, I write-in "Gt.
Horned Owl". Over in the last box at the right - in the column under "Aug
31" -- I add a checkmark and circle it. Another month. Another memory.
Now back to bed to get some more sleep.
