The 2nd North Grants Pass Raptor survey was accomplished today (01-16-18)
Distance traveled: 37.9 miles; Survey time: 3.5 hours
Weather: Fog of various densities along the route
Results:
Red-tailed Hawk - 8
American Kestrel - 6
Red-shouldered Hawk - 3
Peregrine Falcon - 1
Prairie Falcon - 1
No unexpected birds observed. The Peregrine and Prairie Falcon were at the
very same location as the first survey. Fog was pretty dense at part of the
route where Red-tails are observed at a distance, therefore, pretty likely some
were hidden by the fog. Rain amounts have been low, the Rogue water level
continues to be low for this time of the year.
