I really do not like doing reply-all as I know how congestion each of our email
accounts get every day, but this is very important.
My son and I and his friends have probably accounted for 12-18 donations per
year under the Obe. Both my son and I will be doing our last donation over the
next week's and will not be contributing for at least a year.
We really need as an organisation to recruit new donors just to keep consistent
with our support to the blood bank. Please give this serious consideration,
when and if you can go and trying to bring someone with you

June 13 to 18 is National Blood Donor Week. The week exists to recognize and
celebrate you, the blood donors across the country, who have selflessly chosen
to Give Life. And remember, the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared
June 14 as “World Blood Donor Day” to raise awareness for the ongoing need for
blood products around the globe!
It’s also a time to remind Canadians that more blood donors are needed. With
less than 4% of the eligible population supporting 100% of Canada’s blood
system we are counting on more people to join the movement and donate blood for
the first time.
In 2016, 100,000 new blood donors are needed and that’s 27,000 more than last
year. The first step is to ensure every Canadian understands there is an
ongoing need and to educate the public about the donation process.
So what can you do as our best ambassadors? Easy! Check out our web page with
programmed tweets, shareable videos and a quiz, all created for you to spread
the word so more Canadians will follow your lead and start Giving Life.

Canada will be part of a Global Campaign. Confidentially, on 15th August, we
will be launching an international awareness campaign as part of a global
movement to encourage more people to register as blood donors and donate blood.
People rarely think about their blood type – most of us don’t even know our
blood type. But if that ‘type’ was to go missing in everyday life, people would
start to pay closer attention to the need for blood.
So we’re going to remove the letters A, O and B from places of high interest on
a global scale as part of the International Missing Type campaign to create
engagement and awareness of the importance of giving blood.

The new Give Life Process
Starting in July, the process of giving life is changing. You’ll be able to
complete the Donor Questionnaire on a touchscreen!
For individual donors, if you have an appointment booked, a donor ID number and
your email address on file, you’ll get the questionnaire in advance to complete
online, allowing you to skip to Screening in the clinic.
