Hello Group Leaders!

We have been given an amazing opportunity to help volunteer at the Duck
Derby this year.

Please see below for more information.

Amanda from the Children's Advocates called today, and Chick-Fil-A is
teaming up with them and "Connect Ministries" for the Duck Derby this year.
They are looking for a few churches to come alongside them and provide
volunteers on race day which is May 18th.

This would be for the hospitality area for the race There would be a WRC
tent with our promo material for the attendee bags. She said they would ask
that we pay for our own serve team t-shirts ($6 each).

This is one of the biggest events in Bartow County each year. It would be a
great way to reach out, and a great way for your groups to come together and
serve as a team!

We need to always be the hands and feet of Jesus, and what a blessing to be
given this opportunity!

Michelle Baker is the point of contact for this event so please let her know
if you would like to participate. I need to know so we can relay all
necessary info by Monday, April 29, 2013. Michelle's contact info is

Please see below for full details of event and volunteer services

Where is the race? The race will be held at Cartersville Primary School on
May 18th.

.Volunteer Times and Duties? The volunteer meeting will begin at 6:00 AM for
all volunteers to attend. We ask for 10-12 volunteers to arrive at 5:00 AM
to help with initial set up that will require a little heavy lifting for our
men and tents and tables for the ladies. We will be cleaned up and dismissed
by 11:30 AM. Volunteer roles and quick descriptions are below.

oSet Up- Arrive at 5:00 AM to help with initial set up at finish line and
registration. This is KEY to starting off the morning right. We also request
a pickup truck to utilize to set out course markings. They can then be given
additional roles for the remainder of the event.

o Registration and Packet Pick Up- volunteers will be helping runners
register and give out runner bags to participants. Once the race has begun,
they will cheer on runners and give out water at the finish line.

oGreeters- welcome participants and convey event day information.

oParking/Traffic- Direct runners to parking areas

oFamily FunZone- Monitor the inflatables and other games in the Family
FunZone

oHospitality- monitor and replenish hospitality food and water for
participants

oCourse Attendant- will protect, direct and celebrate the participants along
the course. These need to be adults that would not be timid to stop traffic.

oHydration Station- hydrate and celebrate participants at hydration station
on the course.

.Are children welcome? The minimum age for volunteers is 15 years old.
Anyone under the age of 15 will have to be with a parent or guardian. We
have a limited number of positions in which children could serve and be with
their parent or guardian. We must be notified if a child will be present.

We havetwo additional area of need that is actually not on event day:

.Week of event: 6-10 volunteers to meet for about an hour and stuff runner
bags with promotional material from Connect, Chick-fil-A, churches and
sponsors. These bags need to be brought to Early Packet Pick Up (typically
Chick-fil-A) by 3:00 PM on Friday.

.Friday: 4-6 volunteers to serve at Early Packet Pick Up and build
relationships with participants prior to race day.

As far as shirts go, they will bill WRC so money can be given to Helen for
her to submit the pymt request.

Blessings,

Michelle
