Hi Folks!
I asked this question quite a while back but I wanted to touch bases again and
see if anyone had any new thoughts about it.
Gresham is an Office 365 shop and one of the things that subscription come
with is the ability to download and install up to five copies of Office for
each employee (it's really only four copies plus the license we use here at
work...)
To make things even more complicated, Microsoft has changed the page in the
individual's web portal to emphasize this install. There is no way to turn off
the page or to edit it to make it less blatant. The only tool we have to
address it is to turn off all downloads, but the page with the offers will
remain. (See attachment)
So, that brings me to my question: How many of you allow employees to take
advantage of this type of software offer? How many consider such a download
verboten and an ethics or other violation? For those of you (if any...) who do
allow this individual personal installs of these kinds, how do you manage it
and do you have any written policy you could share?
It is a question we are still wrestling with here.
Thanks for the time and info gang!
