Hi folks,
I'm delighted to announce the launch of Control Usage Assistant 2.0
snapshot series. This is for testers who would like to test the
upcoming version 2.0 of the add-on, as well as interested parties to
perform code review as the project progresses.
Planned features for CUA 2.0 include:
* Browse mode: support for custom messages when working with browse
mode, such as message for toggling browse and focus modes, embedded
object messages and so forth.
* Application specific messages: in some programs such as Excel, the
standard control help for controls does not give useful information on
interacting with the control. Thus, app-based custom messages for
controls will be given whether or not the app has an associated app
module. As of now, a prototype can be seen when using PowerPoint and
Excel, with more apps to be added throughout this summer.
Feature requests:
* Automatically provide control help: Some users suggested a VO-style
control help where after a few seconds NVDA will announce the control
help for the focused control (as of 1.0, press NVDA+H to obtain this
message).
Suggestions for new features, corrections and bug reports are always
welcome. The planned release for 2.0 is fall 2013, with beta testing
starting at end of summer.
