Ok but how does this help those using Braille?
The TNAUK set up, was far easier for Braille users, because one was
able
to use the newsreader.

Subject: [ntnm] Re: New SpeakOn MediaSuite version with RNIB Newsagent
(NTNM) support improvements - 1 March 2016
Hi all
Following Isaac's announcement of the new SpeakOn version last week, I
thought I would remind you just how good it is. I will limit myself to
those
matters affecting RNIB Newsagent, but SpeakOn does many other things
as
well.
Isaac mentioned the cleaning up of the text. He had gone a long way
down
this road in previous versions, but the new one cuts out much more
unnecessary waffle. In particular it eliminates the description of
photo
captions which was, in most cases, merely a reiteration of part of the
article text. Brief pointers to other articles have also been removed.
This
makes for a much smoother reading experience, more akin to what we
used to
get from TNAUK.
The XL versions of the radio and tv guides are also excellent. You can
choose those channels which interest you and discard the rest. The
whole
thing then converts into a very navigable html format, which is also
true of
all other papers and magazines. These can then be read either on your
computer using SpeakOn, or, as I do, on the Victor Stream or other
portable
device.
Those of you who complain because your newspapers have not arrived by
email,
would do well to consider downloading them using SpeakOn if you can.
They
are almost always available for download even though you have not
received
them by email, and you can be reading a nicely cleaned up version in
less
than a minute.
I hope this will encourage at least some of you to switch to SpeakOn.
I know
that Isaac puts a lot of his own time and effort into developing it,
with no
reward other than the satisfaction of producing an excellent product.
All the best
Gareth

Subject: [ntnm] New SpeakOn MediaSuite version with RNIB Newsagent
(NTNM)
support improvements - 1 March 2016
Hello all
A new version of SpeakOn MediaSuite, 1 March 2016, is available.
In this version, support for RNIB Newsagent (formerly known as NTNM)
has
been updated and improved including support for the new XL Radio and
Television guides, improved optional clean-up and better navigation.
With the XL publication, the user can define the channels of interest
so
that other channels are filtered out to present uncluttered
navigation.
More details are described in the announcement page:
http://www.speakon.org.uk/SpeakOn/MediaSuite/public/docs-r/SpeakOnMedi
aSuiteAnnouncement.html
Using SpeakOn MediaSuite, all newspapers and magazines can be
downloaded
directly from within the application itself and reading can start in a
matter of seconds.
There is an RNIB Newsagent SpeakOn support page with all the
information
you need to upgrade or try SpeakOn MediaSuite for the first time:
http://www.speakon.org.uk/SpeakOn/MediaSuite/public/docs-r/RNIBNewsage
ntSupport.html
If you already have an older version of SpeakOn MediaSuite installed,
the most elegant way to upgrade is from the menu:
Help > Check for updates
Just a reminder that if you don't find the media task you are looking
for in the Manager, just install the plug-ins from the menu:
Tools > Add plug-ins
If you have any problems you are welcome to post your questions to
this
list or directly to me at:
speakon@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
If you find SpeakOn useful, please tell others about this version.
Thanks to Alison for RNIB co-operation and to Gareth, John and Tom,
members of this list, for testing this version.
Regards,
Isaac
