All,
Please see most recent Call for Papers, which includes all the suggested edits.
(attached) This information is also on the EasyChair site. (Mel, I updated the
CFP) I’m not sure if we want to hand the Call for Papers, out now when we still
need to do some work with EasyChair. We need to link the CFP to the NTA
conference, not sure what that means at this time. Since we really need to get
this call out, perhaps we should forgo the EasyChair site and allow Melvin and
I to collect abstracts and go the old fashion way. I’m concerned that using
EasyChair is going to take more time than Melvin and I have to devote to
setting everything up. We are really running into a time crunch. Also, if we
are talking about 100 abstracts I can understand using EasyChair, but if we are
talking out 35 to 40 abstracts, perhaps we should go old school… My two cents,
we should discuss this at the meeting on Tuesday. Perhaps Mel might be able to
get everything set up in EasyChair by Tuesday and then my concerns are no
longer valid.
Melvin,
We need to link the CFP to the NTA conference. Authors cannot submit abstracts
to the CFP, only the conference. Please see link for abstract submission
information. https://easychair.org/help/how_to_submit?a=18721698 When we ;
spoke on Friday, you were looking into the process for linking CFP to a
conference. You stated it may cost money, any additional info???

Subject: [ntaconference2018] Call for Papers Comments and Actions
Mike and Yolanda,
Thank you for the timely edits and comments. I will make the changes and
hopefully have a final version to distribute very soon. Two actions that need
to be resolved. The first action, Garry requested additional topics get
included in the flyer, waiting on Garry for that. The second action is the
conference name. I like Mike’s suggestion. Also wondering should we include
featuring Geoscience and Cyber-Security since we are holding separate tracks
for those topics as well? Thanks again for the feedback and waiting on a final
decision regarding the conference name.

What Mike said, but the EasyChair link should be
https://easychair.org/cfp/NTA2018.
And for the conference name I like 2018 NTA National Conference and Climate
Equity Summit.

Feedback on Call for Papers
- Convert document to PDF
- The organization name is “The National Technical Association, Inc.”
(Please correct the 1st line of the header box).
- Make sure all links are working. I clicked on several of the topical
links under the header box, and they went nowhere. Others went to the
easychair.org site. The topics should either be coded as one link pointing to
easychair.org or as separate links each pointing to easychair.org.
- June 16 deadline seems early (roughly 2 weeks from today). Perhaps we
should shoot for July 15.
- On page 2, the chapter website should be a link. Right now, it’s just
blue text. Also, replace the semicolon (;) with a period (.) to create two
separate sentences.
- At the end, add Melvin’s name and make his email address an active link.
- Garry Harris (not Gary Harris).
- Add page numbering.
- Put conference dates on a separate line (see page 1 header box).
- Make submission deadline bold.
- Put the easychair.org submission link in as a literal (i.e.,
https://easychair.org/cfp/topic.cgi?tid=68965;a=18720647) on both pages so that
it can be cut-n-pasted. Not everyone will be able to click on a hyperlink.
- My suggestion for conference name is “2018 NTA National Conference
featuring the Climate Equity Summit” with the theme “Full STEAM Ahead”.
- On the easychair.org site, we need to add Architecture to the topic list
to be consistent with STEAM theme.

All,
Please see corrected Call for Papers document. I sent the wrong version last
night (please delete “NASA 2018 Call for Papersv5”). Melvin, thanks for
catching this. This should be the near-final version as Gary requested a few
additional topics.

All,
Please review draft call for papers and provide any edits/changes by COB
Wednesday, May 30th.
Yolanda, specifically see “See the Guidelines for the Preparation of Abstracts
and Full Papers “ please provide information as to location of the guidelines.
This information was on last year’s conference call for papers. Perhaps
someone a National knows where the guidelines are. Once Melvin and I have this
information we can release the call to the planning committee.
