Job Description:
Sr. Security Engineer (Hands-on)
Location - Ashburn VA(50%), Herndon VA (30%), Remote (20%)
Must be a US Citizen (minimum)
Interview Process - 30 min phone interview and then a in person interview
(Ashburn VA)
People skills and communication is key
Salary Range 135K - 160K
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The PEBS Engineer will work in direct consultative engagements with Verizon
Engineer team in support of Dept. of Interior to provide support, advice and
guidance on the correct application of Security services/products/technology
solution or techniques unique to the customer. The engineer designs, develops
and implements solutions by using security engineering methods, techniques and
tools. The senior systems security engineer will also act as a team lead on
security technology projects/engagements or portions of larger projects (e.g.,
product assessment, resource utilization, risk mitigation, performance
management, etc.)
Activities shall include:
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with network security products from
vendors such as A10 Networks, Symantec, F5 Networks, Fortinet, Juniper, Palo
Alto, Check Point and Cisco.
- Candidates must have experience implementing network security solutions in
Enterprise and Service provider environments, as well as experience
implementing network management and network security applications.
- Candidates must have experience collaborating with Security Operation Center
(SOC) teams in trouble-shooting and vulnerability remediation of Security
Incidents.
- Candidates must have hands-on experience with integrating security in the
design, configuration, installation, operation and maintenance of IP networks.
- Candidates must have a strong understanding of network and security protocols
and concepts including IP routing, BGP, Network Virtualization including VRFs,
Route Domains, L3V Partitions, Dynamic SSLi, OCSP, and network protocols
including DNS, HTTP, and HTTPS.
