MIT OEOP Manager of National Outreach Programs
The Manager of National Outreach Programs in the Office of Engineering Outreach 
Programs (OEOP) in the School of Engineering at MIT will focus on managing the 
MITES Programs (which serves students from across the country) and developing 
new initiatives to serve more of the growing MITES applicant pool. These 
initiatives include increasing the enrollment and course offerings in the 
Engineering Experience at MIT (E2@MIT) Program and creating meaningful online 
communities. The manager will also develop ways to support and re-engage our 
MITES alumni.  The goal of OEOP is to provide traditionally underserved 
students with multiple entry points to academic and professional careers in the 
science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines. The OEOP's core 
high school programs are MITES, SEED Academy, and CORE and the middle school 
programs include STEM and MSBP.  In addition to his/her primary role of 
managing our national outreach programs, s/he will also assist the OEOP 
Executive Director with implementing the use of new technologies to increase 
our online marketing/branding  and improve the efficiency of work flow for all 
programs.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES

The Manager of National Outreach Programs will focus on the following tasks:

*            Managing the major aspects of the MITES and E2@MIT programs, 
including hiring and training staff and planning the logistics of the program 
(orientation, special events, classes, and staff meetings), facilitating the 
curriculum development process, developing an evaluation model, and assisting 
with funder relations and budgets.

*            Coordinating the application and selection processes of the 
National Outreach Programs (MITES Program, E2@MIT, and online communities).

*            Leading the residential programs (MITES and E2@MIT), while 
students are on campus.

*            Developing effective strategies for recruiting students through 
marketing materials, information sessions, and relationships with key 
organizations and schools.

*          Establishing effective strategies for maintaining relationships with 
MITES alumni, including developing online communities and planning events.

*            Evaluating the success of the National Outreach Programs.

*            Initiating other innovative programs that expand the reach of OEOP 
and serve more students from the MITES applicant pool, including E2@MIT and 
online communities.

*            Assessing the needs of the National Outreach Programs and 
implementing strategies to meet these needs.

*            Preparing written reports for funding agencies about the progress 
of the National Outreach Programs.  Helping write proposals for grant 
applications.

*            Overseeing the work of the Online Communications Coordinator for 
National Outreach Programs, which focuses on creating online communities for 
students and alumni, developing the online application for the MITES Program, 
and maintaining the online presence o the National Programs.

*            Assisting OEOP Executive Director with communicating with current 
and perspective funders.

*            Assist the OEOP Executive Director with implementing the use of 
new technologies to increase our online marketing/branding and improve the 
efficiency of work flow for all programs.


QUALIFICATIONS
*          Bachelor's degree required.  Master's degree or the equivalent 
strongly desired.
*          3 to 5 years of related experience in program development or 
education required.
*          Technical training and experience in outreach programs preferred.
*          Experience at MIT preferred.
*          Demonstrated commitment to diversity and serving diverse 
constituents.
*          Must demonstrate strength in oral and written communication; be able 
to multi-task and have strong facilitation skills.
*          Should possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work 
effectively in fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment.
*          Ability to work some evening and weekend hours, especially in the 
summer.
