Argonne National Laboratory

Argonne is a Department of Energy national laboratory with over 1,500 
scientists and engineers performing world-class research aimed at solving the 
nation's energy, environmental and security challenges.



In this position you will align IT strategy and delivery with our overall plan. 
 As our CIO, you will be critical in the success of the laboratory`s mission by 
providing visionary leadership for strategic IT goals; acting as a change agent 
for the development and deployment of key information technologies and 
processes; implementing lab-wide cyber security requirements and ensuring a 
high degree of quality lab-wide  service for IT activities.



We are building an innovative, efficient, secure and reliable IT organization 
that will support our science initiatives by:

 *   Completely revamping business processes and applications;
 *   Fully exploiting the rapid changes in  IT concepts such as Knowledge 
Management and Business Intelligence;
 *   Evaluating IT delivery options, i.e. Best Sourcing 
(build/buy/partner/outsource/insource);
 *   Developing integrated applications architecture, Disaster Recovery, SOA, 
web services;
 *   Evaluating and implementing best practices such as ITIL and COBIT;  and
 *   Aligning business goals with IT services, Governance and SLAs.



The CIO is responsible for all platforms and systems relating to business and 
operational issues including:

 *   Applications development, delivery and support;
 *   Infrastructure and telecommunications;
 *   Library services, Knowledge Management; and
 *   Cyber security.



You will have a highly dedicated staff and work with the best minds in the 
world.  Bring your insightful perspectives on ROI and be a key partner in 
obtaining increases in funding necessary to provide the best IT support for 
solving the grand research challenges facing our world.



To be considered you must currently have:

 *   A track record as a successful visionary leader and change agent of an IT 
workforce of 100 or more effecting a turnaround from legacy systems to today's 
solutions;
 *   Expertise in quickly building and sustaining consensus among a large and 
diverse group of key stakeholders;
 *   History of complex implementations requiring elaborate roadmaps and 
process improvements;
 *   Current and deep IT technical domain expertise for determining the right 
value; and
 *   A bachelor's degree



 A master's or other advanced degree is preferred, as is experience supporting 
scientific research or a technology-driven organization.



Argonne is located 25 miles southwest of Chicago on a beautiful 1,500-acre
