Note: This workshop is taking place on the University of Maryland campus during
the Fall Meeting. The campus is easily accessed from the FM site via public
and private transportation. Graduate Admissions Chairs & Committee Members are
especially encouraged to attend.
Please join us for a one-day Holistic Review Institute at the University of
Maryland on Tuesday December 11, 2018. Teams are encouraged!
Holistic review is an evidence-based practice for identifying talent and
increasing diversity in higher education. In this institute, which will be led
by nationally recognized experts Drs. Julie Posselt, Casey Miller, you will:
* learn the research basis for holistic review;
* discuss practical applications to graduate admissions and other
evaluative contexts such as hiring and REU selection;
* begin to develop tools immediately transferable to your program(s);
* understand how holistic review can support broader institutional change
efforts for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Who should attend:
Faculty and staff interested in how selection processes can impact diversity,
equity, and inclusion-Teams will receive priority in registration confirmation;
Department chairs, graduate program directors and admissions committee members,
REU site leaders;
Graduate School administrators;
