Is it your company that replaces old MPower batteries or is it
Humanware? I didn't think Humanware would even service these older units
anymore. But if I can get it done somewhere for $30 or thereabouts, I
might consider doing that. Though, as I have it connected to my
Windows10 computer via a Serial to USB cable, and this is also handy
enough to keep it plugged in, a battery replacement isn't urgent right now.
There isn't even any dial up available in my area anymore, but using it
as a Braille terminal for my Win10 machine is a great work around.

It sounds like the Braille display connection is defective and if you tried
a software reset, hard reset, a 4, 5, and 6 reset or a 1, 2, 3 reset and the

Inn fact I have 2 used but in good condition, running Keysoft 8.1 and have
the Oxford dictionary on them too and replaced the batteries and am selling
them for $325.00 each, including free shipping.
The note taker is worth $1,000 trade in on the new BrailleNote touch and I
offer an additional $300 off if you buy from my company, but the special
runs out January 31, 2019.

The Braille displays ar the KGS cells with the hard plastic router buttons,
different then the older Teman cells with the rubber router buttons.
But they still will work on dialup, which surprisedly still is out there and
I have a old gentleman who still uses dialup on his working XP computer.
If you could fine a CF adaptor card that has the cat5-rj45 female connector,
which I still have one for my MPower BT 32 unit, you can hook up to the
internet, but it has the same issue as the Apex, a very old internet
browser, but google still works and some other sites too.
Email might work that way of connecting to the internet with gmail or mybe
AT&T, but I haven't tried it latelty.
But over all the keyword, key plan, keylist, booker reader, limited
internet, still are a great feature you can still take advantage of.
The MPower units I have have ports in the back of a micro usb port, SD slot,
CF slot, 2 usb ports, 1 rj11 modem port, infrared port, and your power AC
port.
You still can use the right side PCMCIA port with an adaptor card for CF or
SD and the thumb keys in front, and your left side on/off switch, earphone
jack, microphone jack, record button and reset button.

I'm in a similar position. I also acquired an old but still chugging
away BrailleNote MPower, too. My battery will last for a little while
without the AC adapter plugged in, but not too long so just to be on the
same side I usually just leave it plugged in all the time. It doesn't
make much difference since the built-in wireless connection types are so
old you can't connect it to a modern Wifi or Bluetooth network anyway.
Or, if I'm wrong please someone let me know.
Anyhow, I think the only time I ever saw a message similar to that was
when I had somehow turned off the braille display by accident on my
unit, maybe when I was first playing around with it and learning the ins
and outs. ,try pressing the Space Bar with the left most thumb key. I
think this is how I fixed the issue, but since it's been quite a while,
please someone correct me if I'm wrong.
