Howdy,
So, I'm doing my mom's taxes for 2022 because her husband died last year.
His kids are going to do his taxes so it will be a "married filing
separately" situation.
His kids are telling me that both mom and her deceased husband have to do
the same in terms of standard deduction or itemized. Which seems weird.
Does anyone out there have experience with this and know?
Google has not been very helpful. I suppose I could ask ChatGPT but that
guy is sometimes an idiot.
