Neighbors, Having worked at AARP for decades, I am fairly knowledgeable about
retirement income issues -- what required minimum distributions are, the pros &
cons of Roth IRA conversions, how spousal pension rights work, etc. However, I
am at a loss regarding how to structure how I hold my own retirement accounts
(whether to convert to a Roth), and how to time distributions, in order to
simultaneously juggle a myriad of considerations, including tax implications,
family support expenditures, & estate planning goals, etc. I'm not looking for
someone to give me advice about or to manage either general financial affairs
or investments. I think I need an accountant or tax attorney who is an expert
in taxation of retirement income and specializes in retirement accounts/assets
during retirement, but I'm not really sure. Does anyone out there know what
type of advisor(s) I'm looking for, and better yet, does anyone have any
recommendations for professionals who have handled similar tasks for you? Many
thanks!-Debbie on Albany
