Below are some announcements about events tonight and later this week which
I thought would be of interest to residents of Takoma Park.

*National Night Out -- August 3, 6:00 - 9:00 PM on Maple Ave. by Piney
Branch Elementary School.*

. This event, hosted by the Police Department, will feature police vehicles
and horses, McGruff the Crime Dog, child ID kits and fingerprinting,
music/dance/karaoke, dunk tank/basketball, face painting/moon bounce,
games, prizes, and food.

*Takoma Park Minor Master Plan -- Information at National Night Out.  *

On Tuesday, August 3, Montgomery Planning staff will be available to answer
questions about the Takoma Park Minor Master Plan Amendment at the National
Night Out. The plan covers the site of the former Adventist Hospital, plus
areas along and adjacent to Maple Avenue.

County Planning staff will also be giving a Minor Master Plan Amendment
Scope of Work briefing to the Planning Board on September 9. You can learn
how to watch the briefing and view the staff report one week prior to the
event on the *Planning Board’s website

*COVID VACCINATION -- August 5, 9:30 AM - 1:30 PM, 501 Sligo Avenue.* This
event has been rescheduled from its original date of Monday, August 2. A
team will be on site to give COVID vaccinations on Thursday for individuals
ages 12 and up at Adventist Community Services, located at 501 Sligo
Avenue, Silver Spring. Park across the street at the park or on the side
street. No appointment required.

*Power in the Park. August 5, 6:00 - 8:00 PM, New Hampshire Estates Park,
8825 Piney Branch Road.* Learn from energy efficiency and community solar
experts about home energy programs you can take advantage of in Maryland.
The event, which includes free food and activities for children, is
presented by State Delegate Lorig Charkoudian, CHEER, Audubon Naturalist
Society, CASA, ACRT, IMPACT Silver Spring, Takoma Park Mobilization, Energy
Efficiency for All, MD Office of Home Energy Programs, Maryland Office of
People’s Counsel, Montgomery County Energy Connection, Pepco, Solar United
Neighbors, Green and Healthy Homes Initiative, National Housing Trust, and
MD Legislative Coalition Climate Justice Wing.
