Help Resettle a Refugee Family 2.0, Here is a quick update.
3 Areas to engage.The flow of compassion has been close to overwhelming for our
soon to be new neighbors. The arrivals from Afghanistan is a “trickle” now but
will become a flood in 2-3 weeks as those able to get on flights will clear
final vetting on arrival. The southern border arrivals are already a flood.
The reports make it clear that all will arrive with little more than the closes
on their backs and very traumatized.
You are more essential than ever!
1-It is recommended to slow purchases for delivery or drop offs for a week to
give time to process what has been donated (close to a 20 ft
container!).Adventist Community Services of Greater Washington, 501 Sligo Ave.
Silver Spring, MD 20910 is collecting items to assist with local resettlement
efforts. See the REVISED attached list of recommended items to outfit an
apartment.Items on the attached list can be dropped off/shipped to 501 Sligo
Ave. Monday-Thursday 9am-4pm.Sorry, Due to space
challenges/volunteers-furniture cannot be accepted.
2-A month’s rent and misc. costs (A loaded card to a family to get a phone, buy
favorite spices, etc) for arrivals: Monetary donations can be made at
www.acsgw.org. After entering the donation amount you can choose to specify

3-Area Agencies leading to outfit apartments are being stretched to their
