Hello all,
Another slightly different issue for me is dog owners whose dog is on leash
- but who assume that I want the dogs to say hello. They let their leashed
dog come close to my leashed dog. My dog is super friendly and wants to
enthusiastically say hello. But I've almost been pulled down several times
- . So I call out that we can't let the dogs get close.
I really appreciate when other owners ask before letting their leashed dog
get close to mine. Thanks in advance for that check in.

Fourth! I have had many issues over the years with this. My dog is
aggressive and in the past he has gotten a hold of other dogs who have run
up on us from behind and surprised us and he has bitten them. He’s 75+
pounds and can do some damage.

Third! Though our dog is a chocolate lab who you may assume is friendly,
she is reactive to other dogs when on leash because of previous trauma. We
have had years of training classes with her, which taught us to keep as
much distance as possible, usually by turning around and walking in the
opposite direction when we see a dog. If the other dog is off leash and
approaches her though, there's very little we can do to distract her and
get away.

I second that - I too have an anxious dog. I think folks tend to think
because 'their' dog is very friendly and well-behaved, that it's fine for
them to be off leash. They do not realize what an issue it can be for
anxious dogs who have been traumatized in the past. Even friendly dogs can
pose a very challenging situation. I typically move to the other side of
the street, but sometimes that isn't practical.

Good Morning,
Just had an incident with an off leash dog...
I want to ask that we all keep our dogs ON LEASH
at all times.
