I asked some time ago if anyone knew whether Silver Spring Creative Reuse
was still functioning. I just spoke to the founder, who said it was not,
and that she wasn't sure if it would resume.
There is an organization in Alexandria with a similar mission, collecting
still-useful materials for arts and crafts, etc., thus diverting them from
the waste stream, and making them available to teachers, artists, and

Both are accepting donations by appointment right now, and both make it
clear what items they accept and those they don't.
