I too have had very few birds at my feeders beginning sometime early this fall.
This past week I had a brief visit by a flock of gold finches and have had
occasional visits from lone Hairy and Downy woodpeckers. I even had a cardinal
at my sunflower seed feeder yesterday afternoon. I know they are around
because I hear them and even spotted a large flock in a tree along Cobbs Hall
Ln while walking my dog. Wish I had an answer.

Too bad you didn't get a photo of the Coopers hunting success! I saw a large
flight of Tundra Swans late Wednesday afternoon..nice to hear the soft, coooing
calls they make!
Here too, in Hague, I've wondered why there are so few birds at my
feeders...????

I haven’t had the birds that I normally do and when they come it is only for a
short while not all day. Lots and lots of robins buzzing around. Had a cool
incidence the other day as I was outside checking my feeders. A Sharp-shinned
hawk swooped down and took out one of the flying robins feet from where I was
standing. It had to stay on the ground with it for a bit as the robin wasn’t
much smaller and put up a fight, so I was able to watch for a few minutes until
the hawk carried the robin off to a nearby pine to have breakfast.

When this happens at my house there is a Cooper's hawk or some other predator

I saw my first flight of Tundra Swans on Thursday morning and heard a flight
late Thursday night..
