KCGC is the King Carter Golf Course, located south of Kilmarnock just off
Irvington Road. HQ is Hills Quarter, the community associated with the
golf course. NNAS is the Northern Neck Audubon Society.

I continue to get replies to the bluebird reports. People are saying that
they are having terrible results with their own BB production. We are
doing better than a lot of other concerned citizens. It seems that the
past winter was a lot harsher on the BB population than we realized. There
were reports of BBs in nesting boxes that had frozen. Imagine the lone BBs
scattered through the woods that met the same fate and we never became
aware of their plight. We just have to work hard to bring the bluebird
population back up to recent year's levels.

No bluebird fledges this week but we did have one box that fledged tufted
titmouse young. The redheaded wood pecker is still reported in the area.
No sign of the tree swallow parents. Here are the details for the trail:
Partial nests: 2.
Complete nest, no eggs: 1.
Eggs: 19.
Young: 24.
Fledged: 3 tufted titmouse.
Bluebirds fledged for the season: 39.
Chickadees fledged for the season: 15.
Tufted titmouse fledged for the season: 3.
