KCGC is the King Carter Golf Course, located south of Kilmarnock just off
Irvington Road. HQ is Hills Quarter, the community associated with the
golf course. NNAS is the Northern Neck Audubon Society.

There is something I forgot to mention last week. For years we have seen a
redheaded woodpecker in the vicinity of the community center. Last week we
saw it again, and a second sighting later of another redheaded woodpecker.
You should have two of them if you expect to see them in the future, right?

Rain threatening today, but we checked the trail anyway. Did not get wet.
Still lots of empty boxes; the BB couples are being slow to start a second
brood. No new tree swallow activity. The 6 chickadee babies, at about
12-13 days old, were being fed as we approached their box; they will
probably fledge this coming week. This week there are 2 new partial nests,
3 new complete nests with no eggs, and several females on the nests; so we
have an incomplete count on the number of eggs. Here are the details:
Partial nests (new): 2.
Complete (new) nests: 3.
Eggs: last week, 46+; this week, 48+.
Young: last week,5; this week, 14.
Fledges: None this week.
Total fledges for the season: 101.
