I would like to thank those who were able to help me correctly identify the
bird I had seen near my house. I think Melissa nailed it with the Great
White-shark-shinned-black-tailed Minnow-muncher. I would thank everyone
else for the clever names they suggested, it is good to get some relief
from the daily grind of hibernation in these current times. So let's get
some Vitamin D by getting outside and breathing fresh air. While you are
out there, take a look around.
I have been amazed by the reports of Indigo Buntings and Blue Grosbeaks to
backyard feeders. I have seen neither in my yard, but have seen them
around Mosquito Point from time to time. I do have a Hummingbird pair,
would love to discover where they are nesting. I also have Red-headed
woodpeckers back again. I think they will nest again in my neighbors yard
and visit me frequently several times a day at least. It was fun watching
them bring the little ones out to the dead tree to climb about.
I am off to some birding adventure, somewhere on the Northern Neck.
