Subject: Middle Peninsula Bird Club March Walk
Thursday March 18 (limited to 12 people—RSVP to Susan at email address above)
Louise Witherspoon has invited the Bird Club to bird watch at her Port Haywood,
Mathews home on Thursday March 18 at 8:00 am. Louise’s property has access to
Tabbs Creek. About 9:30 we will walk a short distance to Kat Sharp’s property
on Kings Creek and birdwatch there.
There may still be some winter waterfowl species on the creek and spring
migrants may be seen. Ospreys are returning!!
Directions to 724 Turpin Lane: Rt. 14 to Mathews; right on Rt. 611(Church St.);
right on Rt. 14 (New Point Comfort Highway); in Port Haywood turn right onto
Turpin Lane. Turpin Lane is tricky to find because it is a narrow dirt lane
between two buildings, so watch for it once you are in “downtown” Port Haywood.
It is just opposite the Rt. 608 entrance onto Rt. 14.
Masks are required, as well as social distancing. Bring your own binoculars.
Any cancellations due to weather will be posted on the Club’s Facebook page.
The walks are approximately 2 hours long, but you may leave at any time. You do
not have to be an expert to join the walks; we are an informal group with no
membership fees. We welcome all levels of birders. More information can be
found on the Club’s Facebook page.
