Hi Reta,
Here is today's Birdlist from our Audubon Club Birdwalk at Beaverdam
Park in Gloucester at 8:00 AM with Frank Schaff as our leader. We had
beautiful weather with plenty of sunshine and comfortable temps up around 70
degrees. Twelve members came on the walk.
The species seen are the following: Black Vulture, American Crow,
Brown Thrasher, Northern Cardinal, Double-crested Cormorant, American Coot,
Osprey, Fish Crow, Bald Eagle, Canvasback, Northern Mockingbird, Common
Loon, Red- bellied Woodpecker, Ring-billed Gull, Tufted Titmouse, Ovenbird,
White- throated Sparrow, Yellow-rumped Warbler, American Goldfinch, Blue
Jay, American Robin, Prothonotary Warbler, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Northern
Parula, Turkey Vulture, Great Blue Heron, Pied-billed Grebe, Canada Goose,
Ring-necked Duck, American Black Duck, Mallard, Mourning Dove,
Yellow-throated Warbler, Carolina Chickadee, White-eyed Vireo, Field Sparrow
and Common Yellowthroat.
We got fantastic looks at the Prothonotary Warbler. It landed numerous
times within a few feet of us -- both the male and female.
Eight of us were able to go for lunch at Olivia's in Gloucester
Courthouse. We enjoyed it very much.
