Bryan Watts (Center for Conservation Biology at William and Mary) did the eagle
survey over the Rappahannock, Mobjack Bay and the Piankatank on Sunday, Mar 6.
His pilot, Fuzzzo Shermer, is a friend and he always alerts me to the flyover
times. I did not see him this time. It is a real thrill to see him as they
fly VERY low and slow over the eagle nests!
They do a second flyover April or May.
The nest at the end of Browns Lane was active for 8 years and was abandoned 2
years ago. The pair built a nest on Kilmers Point which appeared to be active
this year according to a friend on Kilmers Point.

We overflew your nests at 3:38 PM and observed a raccoon in the nest in the
yard at the end of Browns Lane and observed the nest above the tennis courts on
Kilmer's Point to be empty. We made a couple of passes but failed to locate a
replacement nest, I feel that your birds will pop back
somewhere in the area sometime soon.
