BIRD WALK AT BEAVERDAM PARK IN GLOUCESTER APRIL 11
On Monday, April 11,
the Northern Neck Audubon Society (NNAS) will conduct a bird walk at 9:00a.m.
at Beaverdam Park near Gloucester Court House.
This walk will be led by Frank Schaff.
This beautiful park
has a 63.5 acre lake and many trails for bird and wildlife watching. Among the
many possible sightings are osprey,
great blue herons, swallows, belted kingfishers, woodpeckers, bald eagles,
Eastern blue birds, song sparrows, warblers, and other early migrants.
Directions to
Beaverdam Park are as follows: Take Route
17 south from Saluda Courthouse approximately 13.5 miles. You will see the
hospital on the left. At the next light after the hospital, turn
left onto Business Rt. 17 (Main
Street). Go
.4 mile and turn left onto Rt. 616 (Roaring
Springs Rd.).
Go 2.4 miles and turn right into the main park entrance. Follow the road to
the main parking lot by
the lake. GPS address is 8687 Roaring
Springs Rd, Gloucester, VA.
Several pairs of
loaner binoculars will be available.
