Below are ACA and LPC Code of Ethicsfor self-referral issue we discussed. As we
mentioned, being sure you're followingagency's guidelines, and giving other
referrals, so the client knowthey have options and don't feel they're being
solicited to yourpractice. Since the clients are being terminated, seems like
that would be ok, but best to check with agency guidelines to be safe.
Codes of Ethics can be found on line for both ACA and NJ/LPCs.

13:34-30.6PROHIBITION ON SOLICITATION; UNETHICAL REFERRALS AND KICKBACKS a)A
professional, associate or rehabilitation counselor who providesservices to an
agency shall not solicit, for his or her privatepractice, the agency's clients
for the same services the agencyprovides. Nothing in this section prohibits a
counselor from offeringto the client all appropriate options upon termination
of services atthe agency, includingthe continuation of services in private
practice.
