NJAMC Friends,
I wanted to share this information in case you know of a client who could
benefit.
Jennie
I wanted share a wonderful app that you might suggest to clients in domestic
violence situations. It's a new, free app called Aspire, available for iphone
and Android. The app is disguised as a news feed.
Your client would pre-record a message and select trusted recipients for use in
a domestic violence emergency. In the event of violence, the client would tap
the app button three times to have their set message automatically sent to the
pre-selected ally and to local law enforcement.
The app includes a GPS tracker in case the abuser takes the client away from
the last known location. It also begins recording audio upon activation.
Finally, the app includes a help function that finds local shelters and
resources. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qooHj4QLh3s
