Subject: Re: Updates to niotprinceton.org
And I with you as I expect we all do. Thanks for all these updates.
We need to be thinking about follow up. I know not every breakout group
generated a list. Perhaps we should have captured the contact information for
all participants on Tuesday, but we agreed that it would be for those who
wanted to keep in touch with the facilitator. That said, we did hear some
participants say what actions they would like to take. Though we didn't
systematically capture those either, we have some ideas to work on and
shouldn't lose the momentum. Here's what comes to mind. If you have
additional ideas or reactions to these, please reply all.
1. Send email (Mailchimp campaign) with the information Shelley just sent us
and reminding people of upcoming events--Monday's Continuing Conversation, Dec.
14 CHOOSE racial literacy panel at Labyrinth Books, February 6 Dr. Howard
Stevenson, racial literacy in schools. Ruha--I expect it's too late to
advertise Saturday's event. I have a stack of fliers about it I can still give
back to you.
2. Should we have a follow-up meeting to find out what people are doing about
using racial literacy in their lives? It feels a bit too amorphous to me at
the moment.
3. If you have a list of participants from your group, reach out to them.
Simona has set up a Google Doc for the public policy group to share ideas. We
can help others do the same. Other ways of sharing and compiling ideas
generated on Tuesday?
Grateful to all of you for all you do for NIOT and for the world.
Best, Linda

Dear Friends,
Sadly, I have a conflict that will prevent me from being able to attend our
Continuing Conversations session this coming Monday.
The good news is that I've been able to connect with Ms. Michael Marie Hill,
the Princeton resident whose sister encouraged her to read a poem she'd written
during the public comment period at our last Racial Literacy session at the
Garden Theater. Accordingly, and with her permission, the poem is now up on the
Not In Our Town blog: https://niotprinceton. org/2016/11/30/ ;
justdoitforyourself/
The Racial Literacy page has also been updated to reflect the now "past tense"
nature of our series.
And the Racial Literacy Resources list has been added (as its own page, since
the Racial Literacy page was already quite densely packed).
I continue to feel blessed to be in community with you all.
in peace,Shelley
