Hi, I wanted to pass along this person who is interested in internships
particularly in fire. Our program does not have such a thing at the moment but
if anyone does, he seems like a good kid.
I will try and get him involved with USFS but thought someone else might give
him something better. thanks

Good Afternoon John,
Yes, I was thinking this could be a summer internship opportunity. In
terms of fire, I really like the idea of being out in the field and working on
the front-line to either combat, or prevent wildfires. I’m looking to gain some
hands-on experience working for state, or government agencies that are
responsible for preserving, maintaining, and educating others about protected
lands or national parks like the White Mountain National Forest. Specifically,
further developing my knowledge of using certain field equipment, or GIS
technologies would also prove useful. I am currently taking GIS II and I am
working towards getting a GIS certificate when I graduate. I have attached my
resume and a cover letter to this email. If you know of anyone else who may be
looking for undergraduates to fill internship positions, please do not hesitate
to reach out, I would be more than willing to speak with them.
Thank you
John (Jack) Kuchar

Good morning John, thanks for contacting me! I enjoyed meeting all of you and
talking about fire management. There are some opportunities for internships
and volunteer work this summer. I sent your info to our recreation leader to
see if he has anything that would fit. In fire, we don't have a formal
internship set up, although I think it would be a good idea. But there could
be some volunteering you could do. Would you be looking to do this in the
Summer? Are there particular interests/skills you have that we could help
develop? thanks!

Greetings,
My name is John Kuchar and I am a current junior at Plymouth State
University. Last semester, I was in Simon Pendleton’s Natural Hazards class and
we had met on a brief field trip to discuss wildfires in New England. As a
junior, I am currently thinking about possible future career options, and your
presentation about wildfire mitigation in New England is a topic that
definitely piqued my interest. Therefore, I was wondering if there were any
potential summer internship opportunities working with wildfires or with the
U.S. Forest Service? I would love to gain some firsthand experience to see what
it is like to work for one of these agencies. Growing up, I have always been
passionate about the outdoors and I grew up hiking and snowboarding in the
White Mountains, and I have always thought it would be a very rewarding job to
work for the USFS protecting and managing these lands. I would be delighted to
further connect with you to discuss possible internships, and I can send over a
cover letter and resume if you like.
Thank you
Sincerely,
John Kuchar
