Please distribute this meeting announcement to your NEWFC, NEWSTART, and
NEWTs networks!

Pacific Northwest National Scenic Trail Advisory Council
<https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/pnt/working-together/advisory-committees/?cid=fseprd505623>
members and the Pacific Northwest Trail Association <http://www.pnt.org/>
will be hosting a pair of meetings next Thursday (Jan. 19) at the Tri-County
Economic Development District <http://tricountyedd.com/> office in Colville
(986 South Main Street, Suite A) to look at potential changes to the
congressionally designated route of the Pacific Northwest National Scenic
Trail <https://www.fs.usda.gov/main/pnt/home> in Northeast Washington.  The
congressionally designated route includes road hikes (some adjacent to or
through private property) and some bushwhack (cross country) sections.  The
desired outcome is to locate the trail off of roads and on existing or new
trail segments.  This will take time, funding, and other resources, but now
is the time to get input on the ultimate trail location.

The first meeting is at 3:30pm and will focus on the section of trail in
the O'Hare Creek/Black Canyon area.  This section of trail between the
Abercrombie-Hooknose Mountain area and the town of Northport traverses
private, State, Forest Service and BLM managed lands.  The meeting hosts
hope to include as many of the landowners and stakeholders as possible.

The second portion of the meeting, beginning at 5pm will be to discuss
portions of the trail west of the Columbia River to the boundary between
the Colville National Forest and Okanogan National Forest.  The PNNST
across this area traverses primarily National Forest System lands in the
Wedge, Kettle Crest, 13-mile, and Swan Lake areas.  Some of the trail
sections include road hikes and bushwhack (cross-country) travel.

Matt McGrath, the Pacific Northwest National Scenic Trail Program Manager
for the Forest Service will be here as well as Jeff Kish (Executive
Director) and Lewis Trout (Operations Manager) for the Pacific Northwest
Trail Association.
