SurfAid International is a non-profit organization working towards healthy and
resilient communities in remote areas connected to us through surfing.
SurfAid is currently implementing a 5 year Nutrition–Sensitive Agriculture
(NSA) program called NUSATANI, located in two locations: (1) Parado
Sub-district, Bima District, on Sumbawa Island, NTB Province, and (2) Laboya
Barat Sub-district, Sumba Barat District, on Sumba Island, NTT Province.
Nutrition–Sensitive Agriculture is an approach that seeks to maximize
agriculture’s contribution to positive nutrition outcomes.
We are urgently looking for an independent, experienced, resourceful person
with a positive “CAN DO” attitude to be part of our team as:
SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR CHANGE COMMUNICATION (SBCC) SPECIALIST - NUSATANI
The SBCC SPECIALIST reports to the NUSATANI Manager and is responsible for
creating/tailoring and implementing specific behavior change strategies which
have strong linkages between agriculture and health & nutrition. This also
includes technical assistance and support to the field teams, as well as
measuring the effectiveness of the strategy.
THE PERSON:
You are a problem solver, creative and resourceful to deal with issues and
challenges on the ground. You have interest in remote areas and communities.
You are an enthusiastic and independent person, who loves to work in a team and
is not afraid to try new things. You have loads of practical experience in
motivating your peers and delivering good results for rural communities.
THE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES:

Bachelor degree in communication, social marketing, or a related field.

At least 5 years’ experience in developing and implementing SBCC strategy,
materials, and tools, preferably in the rural community settings.

Experience in conducting barrier analysis.

Experience in training others.

Familiarity with any of these issues: nutrition, public/community health,
agriculture, women empowerment.

Experience working in isolated islands/rural areas, and a good understanding of
Sumba and Sumbawa context is preferred.

Familiar with working on virtual settings and technology-aware, including doing
supervision in a remote setting / from a distance.
This is a roving position, where you will be based in Sumba Barat and covering
both locations in Sumba Barat and Bima. Therefore you will frequently travel to
Bima.
