The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a
German implementing organization which provides services worldwide in the field
of international cooperation for sustainable development. GIZ has a record of
more than 50 years of cooperation with the Association of the South East
Nations (ASEAN).
GIZin cooperation with the ASEAN Secretariat is currently implementing the
project“Consumer Protection in ASEAN” (PROTECT). The objective of this project
is tostrengthen consumer protection systems in selected ASEAN Member States,
with afocus on regional dialogue and cooperation, as well as support in the
followingareas: (i) inter-ministerial coordination and policy formulation; (b)
consumerdispute resolution; (c) advocacy and awareness-raising. The political
partnersof the project is the ASEAN Committee on Consumer Protection (ACCP),
along withits national focal points in the ASEAN Member States. Due to
cross-sectoralnature of consumer protection law and policy, other stakeholders
from thepublic and private sector, as well as civil society, are also actively
engaged.
GIZis seeking one qualified Indonesian candidate for the following position:
Junior Advisor
A. Responsibilities, include but not limited to:
- Assists the principal advisor and other technical advisors in performing
selected technical tasks related to project activities in Indonesia, ASEAN and
other countries, as needed
- Supports in coordinating project activities and external expert assignments
- Supports in carrying out specific research tasks which are required for
planning the implementation of the project
- Supports in carrying out specific tasks in connection with document and
knowledge management for the project
B. Tasks
1. Professional advisory services
- Inconsultation with the principaladvisor and technical team,provides
technical input for strategic approaches for consumer protectionactivities
- Supportswith the design, preparation, implementation and documentation of
capacitydevelopment, peer exchange and other learning and dialogue activities,
such asworkshops, seminars etc. (online and offline, as possible)
- Supportsdeveloping knowledge products and case studies on consumer
protection
- Contributespreparing and implementing the coordination and cooperation
mechanisms andjoint project activities with key stakeholders in Indonesia and
other ASEANcountries
- Makesrelevant information/ knowledge available internally and to partners
in anappropriate format
- Supportsmaintaining and keeping up-to-date communication and knowledge
management toolsand platforms
- Assistsin preparing job descriptions and terms of reference, in support of
theprincipal advisor and technical advisors in supervising third parties
assignedto implement project activities, including performance evaluation
- Supportsaligning the services provided by the project with the partner's
needs
2. Networking, cooperation and communication
- Supportscooperation, regular contact and dialogue with partners in ASEAN
and its MemberStates, implementation partners and other important stakeholders.
- Communicatingwith the extended project team in the ASEAN region, as
required, whileencouraging the sharing of ideas and information for the benefit
of theproject;
- SupportsPR work and ccontributesto regular updates (e.g. newsletter) on
activities in the area of RegionalEconomic Integration (REI)
3. Knowledge management
- Drawsup reports and presentation documents
- Supportsdissemination of knowledge products, information materials and
other sources ofknowledge
- Supportsdeveloping strategies and technical concepts, including
guidelines, manuals andprocedures
- Assistswith research activities and studies on political issues which
benefit jointprogrammes
- Maintainsthe knowledge management system and ensures that all relevant
documents areavailable and uploaded to GIZ’s internal Document Management
System (DMS) aswell as other platforms, such as Sharepoint, OneDrive etc.
4. Management and coordination tasks
- Contributesto project planning and supports documenting processes and
results
- Supportscoordination of relevant project activities with the partners
- Assistsin monitoring of the project progress, the activities and the
budget, draftsreport and documents on the progress
- Compilesthe relevant information for joint activities and assignments
- Contributesto developing and organising quality assurance measures and
suggests necessarychanges, improvements and initiatives
5. Other duties/additional tasks
- Performs other duties and tasks at therequest of the management
C. Required qualifications, competencies,and experience
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in international relations, law,economics, or other
relevant field.
- Initial professional experience with at least 1 (one)year in a similar
position.
- Excellent understanding of topics and issues relatedto economic
development and regional integration, as well as ability toidentify thematic
interfaces.
- Very good command of English and Indonesian (spokenand written).
Other knowledge, additional competences
- Strong networking, communication, diplomatic andintercultural competences.
- Results- and performance orientation.
- Team player with interpersonal/-cultural andorganizational competence, as
well as ability to work independently andproactively.
- Excellent working knowledge of ITC technologiesand computer applications
(e.g. MS Office).
