First of all, for those reading this in London and looking for a place to
go and have a few beers, this post will be of absolutely no help to you.
It simply is not that kind of PUB LIST.

Secondly, I want to thank N.S, Soundara Rajan and George Lessard for the
excellent posts they have been providing.  I want to remind readers of a
particular post from N.S, Soundara Rajan regarding Australian periodicals.

Australian Journals

The National Library of Australia offers Australian Journals OnLine, a
database of over 2,000 magazines, journals, etc. with primarily Australian
content, at <http://www.nla.gov.au/ajol/>   (.)

This is one of those one good directory deserves another kind of messages.
PubList is a directory of periodicals.  Unlike the Ulrich's Periodicals
Directory and if still pubished the EBSCO directory titled "Serials" which
are very expensive and found in most academic and larger public libraries,
PubList is a free, worldwide in coverage, directory of periodicals.  Now
one might ask, if PubList covers the entire world, what is the value of a
source like Australian Journals, which covers only one country.
Specialized directories are simply much more complete in their area of
subject or geographic area of specialty.  I once spoke to a sales
representative who was representing a periodical directory for history
journals and periodicals.  This representative claimed that the history
set covered something like five times the titles covered in Ulrich's.
The bottom line is that one can not have enough directory sources as each
will usually cover content omitted by the others.

It is also important to remember that Periodical Directories do NOT index
the content of the journals and magazines that they cover.  They simply
provide publisher information such as address and telephone number and
other information about the overall periodical.  For example Ulrich's
tells the user what indexes and databases index a specific journal.

A search in this database of the word sports leads to 290 titles.

This is an example of a full entry for a journal resulting from that
search.

To use this database, that is currently under construction, one must first
register for free and obtain a logon and password.

It certainly is the type of source that one will certainly want to use
periodically.
