The Art of Competitive Interviewing - Stamping Out the Competition <http://www.kasplacement.com/interviewing-sales-recruitment.php>As of April 2010, the United States unemployment rate was 9.5%. Even though this number might signal that the job market is looking up, it still means that 1 out of every 10 people within the nation is actively seeking employment. Our sales staffing agencies feel that not all that much has changed from 2008 and 2009. There is still a lot talent on the open market and fierce competition for any available position. Often, my candidates will want to know about the other people we have sent in to our clients and who are currently going after the same job. As a recruiter, I obviously cannot tell them much as it is unfair to give one candidate a competitive advantage over another. In 2007, we would usually have about 3 good candidates going for one particular job. In 2010, it is more like 5 or 6. Keep in mind that this number is also contingent on outside factors such as industry and compensation.
