I would like to point out that your money does not buy a membership at the
tennis club. Pickleball players can not be part of the executive and we
can not attend the AGM.

Our rental time in Mary Hall is coming to a close and I’m sure we all
can’t wait to get outside. Most of us will be going to the tennis club and
some to Lakeside Park. Our last scheduled day in Mary Hall will be
Wednesday April 5. Next week is normal then the following is Sunday Monday
and Wednesday. Nets are set up at LVR now.
For the LVR courts our plan at this point is to schedule 2 open times a
day based on level (Beginners, Intermediate & Advanced) from Sunday to
Friday with nothing scheduled for Saturday. This will mean that there will
be 4 sessions per week for each level. To begin with, the 1st session will
be from 10-12. The second will be from 12-2. As of May 15, we will move
these times 1 hour earlier starting at 9AM. All 3 courts will be reserved
for this. As we watch to see what the actual number of users are in each
session we might change the number of courts we reserve for this. We found
in the past that signup works best for these sessions so that when you look
at the signup you will see if there are enough people to play a game, and
also it protects the space from too many people showing up for the 3

If you are going to be playing at LVR, you should buy a season’s pass. You
can get that at:

Otherwise it is $5 a day that you drop in the box that is located on the
fence close to the enterence. If you had a membership last year, you can
play until the end of April. But as of May 1 you should purchase your new
pass.
You and your friends can also reserve a court at anytime other than the
blocked off times with your membership. You can do this at:

You can only do this once you have a paid pass for this year.
*One thing we need to be aware of is noise. You have probably read that in
many jurisdictions pickleball courts have had to be closed because of
breaking noise bylaws. We have had a complaint and the bylaw officer has
started talks with us. We have promised that pickleball will never start
before 8:00AM or after 8:00PM and that yelling will not happen. So we all
need to be vigilant on this. There will be electronic monitors around
checking for db readings, so please no screaming or yelling, even if you
miss the shot once in a while.*
We are going to be putting together a work party shortly to finish
building the fences for the 4th court in April. If you can volunteer,

Also as we did last year, the club will purchase a bunch of outdoor balls
for purchase by members. We will be selling them for a reduced rate, better
than you will find anywhere. We will probably buy the same balls we did
last year. If you have any thoughts on ball type, please let us know.
We will have our first aid kit in the shed at the LVR courts that can be
used for minor injuries. As always if you use something that should be
replenished, please let us know. Also just so you know there is an AED
machine in the shed as well. At some point, Keith will walk us through the
use of it for those that have not seen it before. It is a stopgap measure,
obviously you should be calling 911 at the same time.
