[USS Vanguard] OoC: Farewell to an Old Friend

Hello, all. It's with a heavy heart that I am here to announce the
resignation of Geurt, who's played Chief Engineer Vokar for so many
years. Let me stress that neither I nor Chris or Mel either urged or
asked for Geurt's resignation in any way. In fact, I would have been
very happy indeed to have him stay and roleplaying with us.

Here's Geurt in his own words:

"I'm afraid i can't seem to find the time to even read all the post,
let
alone contribute. You all post so often, and with my job, the travel
time and my studies it's virtually impossible to keep up. I have
decided to quit Vanguard. I'm very sorry about this, i always loved
playing with you. I hope that somewhere in the future i can come back
to the vanguard family, but for now i have to say goodbye. I loved
playing with all of you and keep up the good work.

Best wishes to you all
Geurt aka Vokar."

I'm sure you'll join me in a virtual ovation for Geurt, who's
roleplayed some of the best engineering posts I have ever had the
pleasure to witness. Let's wish him luck in his personal and
professional life and extend the invitation for him to rejoin us one
day, hopefully, any time he wishes.

As for Vokar for now, I don't know what Geurt wants us to do with him,
so no "going out in a blaze of glory" posts for Vokar just yet! Mel,
Chris, and I will be discussing candidates for Geurt's position, and
we'll accept applications, of course (just tell us why you want it and
why you think your character would be suitable for the position). I
suppose I always move slowly in filling vacancies because I like to
delay having to "substitute" a friend.

Let me wrap up by thanking Geurt in turn for his presence on the sim.
He was right there from the beginning, and both Astoria and Vanguard
"flew" due to him and Vokar.
