It was about one year ago that my interest in moths began. I know that last May I bought John Himmelman's Discovering Moths and that led me to begin photographing and idenytifying them. I really got serious last August when I bought a head lamp so both hands could be free for taking photos. Until then I carried a small flashlight that I sometimes held in my mouth -- anything to get a shot! I am rapidly closing in on 300 moths for our yard, having just identified #286. Here are the latest ones that I have seen: Eastern Tent Caterpillar Moth, 7701 Esther Moth, 6655 Flowing-line Bomolocha, 8441 Lesser Maple Spanworm Moth, 6273 Donacaula melinellus, 5316 Trumpet Vine Moth, 5563 Orange-tufted Oneida Moth, 5588 Red-shawled Moth, 5526 Harnessed Tiger Moth, 8169 Gray Furcula, 7937 Black-dotted Maliattha, 9049 Rosy Maple Moth, 7715 Brown Scoopwing, 7653 I am always glad when night falls so I can get out and discover a few more.
