I have lost Ken's original photo ( Sorry) , but I had Lois' photo from BAMONA. I sent it to the expert who's doing the Bar-coding on Lithophanes and asked him if he could take a minute and look at Lois' photo on the BAMONA site. Here is his answer : " I looked at the Lithophane and it seems like a normal patefacta to me. L. petulca is dull, grey brown not the warm straw color of patefacta. All mine ( patefacta) are from the mountains but your specimens are all I have seen from the piedmont. Aiken is coastal plain and very, very likely only to have patefacta in that group." I'm just a conduit of this info as I have only been into moths for about 18 months and don't consider myself all that knowledgeable , but I believe BAMONA might have also been a little hasty in their verification.
